Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, disrupting the flow of information between the brain and body. While no two people experience MS in exactly the same way, early detection and comprehensive treatment can make a meaningful difference in long-term outcomes. At Singlepoint Healthcare, our MS specialists combine advanced therapies with compassionate, patient-centered care to help individuals live full, empowered lives.

Diagnosis and Early Detection

Because MS symptoms can mimic other conditions, diagnosis often requires a thorough evaluation. Our team uses advanced diagnostic tools such as MRI, neurological exams, and lab testing to confirm MS and rule out similar conditions that may mimic MS. Early detection allows us to initiate treatment sooner, which can slow disease progression and preserve function.

Common Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms

Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects the central nervous system, causing a wide range of symptoms that vary from person to person. While some symptoms may be mild, others can significantly impact daily life, making early recognition and management important. Understanding the most common MS symptoms can help individuals address challenges effectively:

Fatigue: Ongoing physical or mental exhaustion

Numbness or Tingling: Altered sensations, such as pins and needles or loss of feeling

Muscle Weakness: Decreased strength that may affect routine

Balance and Coordination Problems: Unsteadiness or difficulty walking

Comprehensive Care Approach

Managing multiple sclerosis goes beyond your specialist visit, which is why we provide comprehensive support that focuses on the whole person. Our care approach includes infusion therapy treatments to manage MS symptoms as well as access to new therapies through our clinical research program.

Soon, we will add new services like rehabilitation programs designed to improve strength, balance, and mobility, counseling and mental health resources to support both patients and their families as they navigate the emotional challenges of MS, and more. Stay tuned for when these services become available!

Forms of MS

There are four main types of MS, each with unique progression patterns:

  • Relapsing-Remitting MS (RRMS): The most common form, characterized by clearly defined flare-ups (relapses) followed by periods of remission.
  • Secondary Progressive MS (SPMS): Often begins as RRMS and later transitions into a steady progression of symptoms with or without relapses.
  • Primary Progressive MS (PPMS): Involves a gradual worsening of neurological function from the start, without distinct relapses or remissions.
  • Progressive-Relapsing MS (PRMS): A rare form where the disease steadily progresses but includes occasional relapses.

Treatment and Management Options

Although there is currently no cure for multiple sclerosis, effective treatments can help reduce relapses, slow the progression of the disease, and manage symptoms to improve quality of life. At Singlepoint Healthcare, we take a comprehensive approach to care that includes disease-modifying therapies (DMTs), which work to alter the course of the disease and protect nerve function. For patients who require intravenous medications, we provide infusion therapy in a safe and comfortable environment.

Symptom management is also an important part of our care, and may involve medications, physical therapy, and spasticity treatments tailored to each patient’s needs. In addition, we offer access to clinical research opportunities, giving patients the chance to benefit from the latest advancements in MS trials and innovative therapies.
